IAPA – International Association of Practising Accountants

MIA – The Malta Institute Of Accountants
The Malta Institute of Accountants (MIA) is the voice of the accountancy profession in Malta providing professional guidance, technical support and continuing professional education to over 2,700 accountants.
It is committed to attracting talented individuals to the profession and invests heavily in the process of educating prospective accountants. The Institute also helps to promote a proper understanding of the role and the value of the accountancy profession to the wider Maltese public in general and, in particular, to the local business community.
The MIA forms part of leading international accounting organisations and brings the voice of the Maltese accountant to bear in these prestigious fora. It ensures that professional standards and ethics applied locally meet the requirements of international regulatory bodies and works to uphold the reputation of the profession both locally and overseas.

Federation of European Accountants (FEE) is the body responsible for the European accountancy profession in respect of the EU institutions and other international organisations. The FEE is an international non-profit organisation based in Brussels that represents 47 institutes of professional accountants and auditors from 36 European countries, including all of the 28 EU Member States.
International Federation of Accountants (IFAC), the global organisation for the accountancy profession dedicated to serving the public interest by strengthening the profession and contributing to the development of strong international economies. IFAC, through its independent standard-setting boards, sets international standards on ethics, auditing and assurance, education, and public sector accounting, and it promotes convergence to those standards as well as to the standards of the International Accounting Standards Board. It also issues guidance and provides support through conferences, seminars and other means to encourage high quality performance by professional accountants in business and accountants employed in small and medium practices. In addition, it works with numerous organisations throughout the world to support developing nations and the growth of the profession in emerging economies.
International Accounting Standards Board (IASB) is the independent standard-setting body of the IFRS (International Financial Reporting Standards) Foundation. The IASB engages closely with stakeholders around the world, including investors, analysts, regulators, business leaders, accounting standard-setters and the accountancy profession.
